  Event

Date: 1st March 2024

Venue: Potsdam, Wissenschaftsetage

Organizers: Lina Stein (UP), Mariana M. de Brito (UFZ), Jakob Lochner (PIK)

Dear all,

I am excited to invite you to the following workshop, which I am organizing together with Lina Stein (Uni Potsdam) and Mariana M. de Brito (UFZ Leipzig):

Text-as-data in Hydrology, Natural Hazards, and Climate Change Research
1-day community discussion exploring challenges and opportunities

When: 1st March 2024, 9:30-17:00

Where: Potsdam, Wissenschaftsetage

Registration and further information: https://forms.gle/nCC6o88Yo2KGCphs7

Abstract:

The use of text data from diverse sources such as newspapers, scientific publications, and social media is increasingly prominent in hydrology, natural hazards, and climate change research. This upcoming workshop brings together scientists from these fields to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge sharing. We will delve into the challenges, opportunities, and potential future applications associated with methods and data sources in text data analysis.

The workshop will be organized as a combination of lightening talks to introduce yourself and your research (2 minutes, up to 1 slide), invited keynotes, and in-depth discussions. The expected workshop output is the publication of a community commentary in a scientific journal.

Please find our flyer attached to this email.

Best regards,

Jakob Lochner (PIK)
