Background:
Since spring 2018, an interest group consisting of scientists from universities and non-university research institutions as well as representatives of infrastructure organizations has been engaged in planning the establishment of a National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) in the field of Earth system science. The planned NFDI consortium for Earth system science - NFDI4Earth - will work interdisciplinary and science-led. Accordingly, Earth system and Environmental science will be represented in the consortium in its entire spectrum. On 19th December 2018 an initial workshop was held at the German Climate Computing Center in Hamburg to mark the launch of the NFDI4Earth consortium. The 2nd NFDI4Earth Plenum Meeting will take place on 21st February 2019 in Potsdam on the Telegrafenberg.

We look forward to your participation.

With kind regards
Roland Bertelmann, Manja Luzi-Helbing, and the team of Geo.X
