Recap: Geo.X Podcast Incubator

From 13 to 22 May 2025, seven scientists from the Geo.X network, who wanted to explore podcasting as a tool for science outreach, gathered for a hands-on seminar. Over two in-person days, two online sessions, and several flexible self-paced phases, the participants learned how to plan, produce, and publish a podcast episode featuring topics from concept development and storytelling to technical production.
The seminar combined practical exercises with structured feedback and covered the full podcasting workflow. Each participant produced their own 3-minute science podcast episode by the end of the course. They go the tool to produce longer episodes and we hopefully see some longer podcast episodes are being produced in the further development.
The event was hosted at library Wissenschaftspark Albert Einstein at the Telegrafenberg in Potsdam and was made possible through an ECS Community Grant awarded to Márk Somogyvári.

"Touching Water": In ‘touching water’ an anthropologist and data scientist explore water with experts who work intimately with a well-known element. From hydrologists and engineers to local water experts and urban planners, our guests reveal how different people can approach, understand, and communicate about water. What emerges is not just knowledge about H2O, but new ways of seeing our relationship with water and people. Because how we touch water shapes how we understand our world.
Hosts: Desirée Hetzel and Márk Somogyvári
