Geo.X Career Day 2016

Press release

23.09.2016: Young scientists can ask themselves the question, what to do after finishing their PhD or following on a Postdoc phase. Staying in science or switching to other career paths? Last Wednesday 90 participants took part in the Geo.X Career Day on the Telegrafenberg in Potsdam. Two career options were presented to them: inside and outside academia.

In her key notes the career coach Svenja Neupert gave an overview on both paths and motivated the young scientists to use their skills and bring in their potential whatever career they choose. Following on this introduction the participants had the opportunity to inform themselves about one of these two options in detail.

Central element of the event was the presentation of several short interviews with experts from both fields, that informed about the different requirements and opportunities and answered the questions of the young scientists. The event also offered the opportunity for exchange and networking. (ak)

The central element of the Geo.X Career Day was a number of short interviews with former Geo.X geoscientists focusing on their personal career decisions, recent career development and current job satisfaction. The Geo.X Career Day concluded a buffet and get-together with the alumni.
