Contact Person: Engin Keles (FU Berlin)
Dear colleagues from the Geo.X Network,
we invite you to join us for the second upcoming Geo.X "Grow Your Idea" Workshop: Exoplanet Exchange: A Berlin‐Potsdam Roundtable. The focus of this meeting is to initiate collaborative research on exoplanet science combining expertise from different institutes.
Date: 14th of March 2025
Place: The Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP), An der Sternwarte 16, 14482 Potsdam
Summary
The goal of this scientific retreat is to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among research groups in the Berlin‐Brandenburg region that specialize in exoplanet characterization. By bringing together experts from various fields, such as exoplanet interiors, atmospheres, star‐planet interactions, and host stars, we aim to create a more comprehensive understanding of these fascinating foreign worlds. Regular meetings, alternating between different institutes, will provide opportunities for early career scientists and students to explore diverse research possibilities within the region and connect with experienced researchers. Moreover, such collaboration will significantly enhance our ability to characterize exoplanets and solidify the Berlin‐Potsdam region's position for exoplanet research in Europe.
In Detail
This roundtable aims to foster collaborations of exoplanet research groups in Berlin-Brandenburg. This will be a series of three meetings. The first meeting took place at the FU-Lankwitz a couple of months ago, being quite a successful meeting with more than 40 participants from AIP, DLR, FU, and GFZ. This is the announcement for the second meeting which will take place at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP). The final agenda is under preparation, but we aim to continue strengthening the connections we started in the first meeting, discuss possible projects for grant applications, have scientific talks, and more. This roundtable is also open to scientists outside the FU, DLR, and AIP working in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. If you want to attend the meeting, please write an email to engin.keles@fu-berlin.de. Note, that there is a limited space for registration.
With best regards
Engin Keles
