June, 20th 2011

Am Neuen Palais, University of Potsdam

This year’s annual meeting on June 20th 2011combined a scientific symposium on the subject of "Future Cities: Challenges for the Earth Sciences" with the Geo.X General Meeting. Entirely within the spirit of Geo.X, this topic brought together the different geo-disciplines with socially relevant issues. Our event provided an opportunity for the scientific community from Berlin and Potsdam to come together for one day to procure an overview of the current scientific work of their colleagues and international guests. https://www.geo-x.net/The main topics of the day were on the impact of natural disasters as earthquakes, Tsunami or flood on urban areas as well as climatic and ecological developments in cities.

Invited speakers for the KeyNote-Talks were Marco Borga (Italy), Heinke Schlünzen (Hamburg) und Stefano Tinti (Italy).

Obligatory item of the agenda was the Geo.X General Meeting, which comprised the activity report of the Speaker and administrative office as well as a final discussion.
