Call: Geo.X Young AI Academy
From ad-hoc AI use to a research-aligned AI practice.
The Geo.X Young AI Academy – Generative AI for Earth System and Planetary Science is a 10-month cohort programme for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in Earth System and Planetary Science. We support you in moving from ad-hoc generative AI usage to a personal and structured integration in your scientific workflows grounded in critical evaluation, ethics, and responsible practice.
Who can apply?
You should apply if you…
- Are a doctoral or postdoctoral researcher in Earth System or Planetary science at a Geo.X partner institution
- Already have started using generative AI or want to
- Want to rethink your research workflow
- Are willing to actively engage and share insights
Good to know (fit): This programme is designed for researchers integrating AI into scientific work. If your main goal is to build programming-heavy developer skills (e.g., AI engineering or model development), a technical training programme will likely be a better match.
What do you need to do?
You can apply via the application form link on this page. There are no special files required for the application. Please ensure that your supervisors are informed and support your participation, and that you have read the application guideline and important information. The course has a small participation fee of 150 € if your application is acceptance is successful you will receive an invoice.
All sections of the online application form must be completed and submitted by the deadline (8th April 2026) in order for your application to be considered. Please fill in all mandatory fields (marked in red).
You have to complete the application form in a single session - the form will be cleared when you leave the page. Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.

How do the application process work?
Places in this progamme are limited. As Geo.X comprises nine partner institutions, each institution has a reserved contingent of places. If applications exceed allocated places, participants are selected by draw; unfilled places are reassigned to applicants from other institutions. Therefore, you will receive the notification if your application is successful shortly after the submission deadline on April 8th, 2026.
