Join the NFDI4Earth Academy 2023!

  • Do you already work - or do you want to work at the interface of Earth System and Data Science?
  • Are you interested in interdisciplinary research and wish to network with other early career scientists for this purpose?
  • Are you a doctoral or postdoctoral researcher in a German university or non-university research institution?

What is the NFDI4Earth Academy?
The NFDI4Earth Academy is a network of doctoral and post-doctoral scientists, interested in bridging Earth System and Data Sciences beyond institutional borders. The Academy covers specialized training courses and facilitates collaborations within the NFDI4Earth community with access to all NFDI4Earth innovations and services. With the two-year Academy program, we offer an open science and learning environment. Academy Fellows can advance their current research projects by exploring and integrating new methods and connecting with like-minded scientists in an agile, bottom-up, and peer-mentored community. Using the established structures of our three research networks (Geo.X, Deutsche Allianz Meeresforschung, and Geoverbund ABC/J), our program combines various virtual, hybrid, and in-person events.

Why should you apply for the NFDI4Earth Academy?
As an Academy Fellow, you will benefit from tailored training courses, networking beyond institutional boundaries and events to foster interdisciplinary research and projects. Furthermore, Fellows and their projects will have a high visibility within and will enjoy support from the NFDI4Earth community. They will have the opportunity to participate in a broad range of external training offers, such as the Helmholtz Academy for Information and Data Science (HIDA) or DataTrain (University Bremen Research Alliance).

Who can apply?
We invite all early career scientists (doctoral and postdoctoral) in the German Earth System and Data Sciences community to join us. Research questions can arise from all fields of the Earth System Sciences, see also DFG classification. Data science methods may include but are not limited to multi-level modeling, machine and deep learning, neural networks, statistical data analysis and modeling and big data.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals that seek to actively engage in the Academy and bring their ideas to shape in our program. An apparent affinity for data-driven and interdisciplinary research is highly welcome. To create a cross-linking Academy culture, a willingness to travel within Germany is necessary.

How to apply & where to find further information?
