Dear all,

The following hybrid talk will take place at PIK as part of our "Science & Pretzels" series on Wednesday, 8th March at 3.00 pm:

Celebrating International Women's Day, we have a talk focusing on women, by two women scientists from PIK's Climate Change and Health working group:

Amanda S. Wendt and Jillian L. Waid: Measuring empowerment in a project setting: Qualitative and quantitative measurement

Abstract: After a review of the theory of empowerment and its relationship to social norms, we will briefly introduce the FAARM trial and its intervention and use it as a case study as women in rural Bangladesh face multiple, inter-related challenges including food insecurity, malnutrition, and low levels of empowerment.  We will present a theory of change for improvement in women's empowerment and changes in social norms that was developed from qualitative interviews.  Following this, we will present quantitative tools that have been designed to measure empowerment in a project settings and show the impacts in the FAARM trial.

If you want to join the event, please please write an e-mail to science-and-pretzels@pik-potsdam.de.

Kind reagards,

Alison Schlums
