Join us for the closing event of our Geo.X Young Academy Autumn School 2021.

We will follow by a Panel Discussion on Perspectives on Ethics in Geoscientific Research.

Geosciences are often considered the unsuspicious discipline, when it comes to ethical questions. Most researchers and most projects are never confronted with questions of ethics. However, in many contexts these questions more and more arise. Let's have discussion on that. 

Panelists:

René Dommain, University of Potsdam for the perspective on Fieldwork, International Cooperation, and Intercultural Dimensions in the Academic Workspace

Jorge Vega, HU Berlin for Ethics of Science, Political Ecology, Environmental Conflicts, and Decolonial theory

Laura Betancur Alarcón, HU Berlin for socio-environmental conflicts in violent contexts and how information and knowledge flows shape those tensions

Frie Preu, Chief Operating Officer at CorrelAid, for perspective on ethics in Software Development and Data Science tools and Data Science projects for social good

Anne Schwerk (tbc), IT Project Manager Artificial Intelligence at CENTOGENE, Ethics in data-driven Health research and Data Science

Moderation: Melanie Sieber, Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Potsdam

We will follow-up with a Q&A session and a get-together to get to know the Academy Fellows and young researchers in the Geo.X research network.
